How to authenticate & pay

Once you’ve located a charging point and plugged in, you can authenticate, charge up and pay. There are a few ways to do this.

Plug and charge

If you have a BlueOval™ Charge Network (BOCN) subscription, you can use Plug & Charge at some charging stations. It seamlessly handles authentication and payment. All you have to do is plug in and your EV will start charging.

RFID card

An RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) card lets you access, authenticate yourself and pay easily at charging stations. With an RFID card, you can simply tap the card to the charger to start charging.

FordPass™ Mobile App

Most charging networks will have a mobile app that you can manage and handle payments through. Ford’s FordPass app lets you find chargers, check prices, filter for different speeds and activate BOCN chargers.

Credit or debit card

Some networks have chargers that accept contactless credit and debit payments.

Important information
[1]

Figures given are for the Ford EV you have selected in the ‘Plan a trip’ tool and calculated using the charging station power levels shown in the “Trip summary” and “Stops breakdown” section. Actual charge times and charging speeds will vary according to the type of home or public charging station used, as well as other factors (including weather, ambient temperature, driving behaviour, driving profile, vehicle condition, lithium-ion battery age, condition, and temperature).

[2]

Based on full charge of the Ford EV you have selected in the ‘Plan a trip’ tool. Estimated range using Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) test results. Figures shown are for comparability purposes and should only be compared with other vehicles tested to the same technical procedures. Actual range varies with conditions such as external elements like temperature, driving behaviours, route profile, vehicle maintenance, and lithium-ion battery age and condition. Tests are conducted in controlled conditions with an ambient temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and no climate or electrical load.

[3]

The values stated were determined according to the prescribed WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedures) measurement method. The information does not refer to a single vehicle and is not part of the offer, but is intended solely for comparison purposes between the different vehicle types.

Plug&Charge is already available on Mustang Mach-E. Activation of the feature in other Ford Electric Vehicles is expected by end of 2024.
